Most of how we understand Reality is probablistic. Very little is deterministic, practically speaking. Gravity is one experiential example but the mechanism itself is likely far more probabilistic than we know. Indeed, the distinction between HI and AI dissolves here. Both are probabilistic and easily confounded without structured rigor. The reason why Gen AI is often more confoundable is that it is a stochastic mirror of human knowledge and recorded experience, not the “real thing.”
I agree that both are probabilistic. Where I think the distinction still matters is that they fail differently. GenAI relies on recorded knowledge and predicts plausible continuations. Humans observe directly, understand institutions, notice weak signals, and are accountable for the decisions they make. That brings me back to your point about business plans. AI can help surface implications and challenge assumptions remarkably well, but HI is still responsible for deciding which assumptions actually matter, whether they still hold (What else must remain true?), and ultimately acting on that judgment.
Hmmm…I don’t see much evidence that most humans understand the Reality of a given situation. GenAI has intrinsic issues, notably regression to the mean, and it assumes based on large scale Past is Prologue logic. People often have replaced real knowledge with heuristics to the point where their assuming is based on a statistically much more fragile premise. In a better world, HI would reliably deliver the conclusions you mention, yet we are surrounded by examples where they do not.
